Excelsior Digital Seed Bag in a Mix

The digital Excelsior is a plant known for its spectacular and long flowering, formed of long stems with clusters of multicolored bells. Its name comes from the Latin "digitus", which means "finger" because one can insert into the flower a finger, as if it were a glove.

This explains why it is readily called Doigtier or Gloves of Bergère. It attracts bees and other pollinating insects. It is readily accomodate from a seedling on the edge of a grove or in light undergrowth.

Its seeds are very fine. Mixing them with sand or soil makes it easier to sow them. Be careful, all parts of the plant are toxic.

Sow in spring in a mixture of heath-earth soil. Cover the seeds and water. To facilitate germination, soak the seeds in water for 1 to 2 days. At the 10-15 cm stage, transplant into a pot in a heath-earth-earth mixture.

Plant in the open ground in autumn in areas with mild winter. The flowers only bloom for one day but the numerous flower buds ensure a continuous flowering from May to September.
