Installing a rainwater collector in your garden is good for the planet! This reduces our drinking water consumption and thus reduces our impact on groundwater. Indeed, the drinking water we consume on a daily basis comes mainly from these groundwater (63%).

However, this resource is not unlimited and may even be lacking in the years to come. What's the problem? Overconsumption of water that lowers groundwater levels, combined with a water cycle that does not always preserve the balance of the resource.

Currently, the average daily consumption of tap water is 100 litres per person (all uses combined). However, drinking water is not necessary for all our daily uses. The Ministry of the Environment reminds that rainwater can be used to:

• Clean floors;
• Clean the laundry subject to proper water treatment;
• Water plants;
• Clean a vehicle.

Recovering rainwater also saves money (in financial terms). Indeed, in France, drinking water at a cost. It depends on the investments and costs required for the operation and distribution of water, but also for the disposal and reprocessing of wastewater.
