How to sow successfully?

Start by preparing the soil: spade or claw the soil to a depth of 10 to 15 cm, remove stones and weeds, then level with a rake. If your soil is very clayey, add a little sand to improve drainage.

Sow at a rate of 25 g per m², ideally with criss-crossing passes (one half in one direction, the other perpendicular) to avoid sparse strips. Cover the seeds lightly with a rake, then press down with a roller or the back of a shovel to ensure good seed-to-soil contact.

Watering is the key to success for the first 3 to 4 weeks. Keep the soil surface moist by watering regularly and finely, preferably in the morning or at the end of the day to limit evaporation. Avoid powerful sprays that displace the seeds.

The first mowing should take place when the grass reaches a height of 8 to 10 cm: set the mower to a minimum height of 5 cm and never cut more than a third of the height at a time. For subsequent mowings, maintain a cutting height of 4 to 5 cm to encourage deep rooting.

Thanks to theorganic fertilizer already incorporated, no additional fertilizer is required for the first 6 weeks. Thereafter, plan a spring fertilization (March-April) and an autumn fertilization (September) with a conventional lawn fertilizer to maintain density and color.
